How to Play Bloody Brilliant Like a Pro!

Bloody brilliant is a card game that is typically enjoyed by people of all ages. The object of the game is to score points by taking as many cards as possible to be equal to, or one more than, the number of points shown on your player card. The player with the lowest score at the end of the game is the winner.

The deck comprises of 54 cards- 6 each of Ace (1 point), 2-10 (face value) and Jack (11 points), Queen (12 points) and King (13 points). Aces are high and two's are low. After the shuffle, each player is dealt six cards face down in front of them. Remaining cards are placed face down in a stack in the middle of the players.

The player to dealer's left starts play by flipping over the top card of their deck- this is their current card. They then draw one card from either their deck or from the communal stockpile, adding it to their hand. Play then passes to their left and continues clockwise around the table until someone takes either the current card or any other card if it matches the point value shown on their player card. When someone takes a card, they place it in front of them crossways so that everyone can see its value. If they cannot or do not want to take any more cards, then they must place one from their hand face down in front of them and end their turn.

If at any time you are forced to put down two cards instead of one as part of regular play, then you pick up both cards and put them back into your hand to resume normal play on your next turn. The same applies when you have only two cards left in your hand at end game- you pick up both cards and put them back into your hand for scoring purposes only!

When you have either exactly equal or one more than the points shown on your player card- for example 3+2=5 or 5+1=6; 4+3=7 etc.- take those cards off the table and set them aside face up. These are your scoring cards for that particular turn. At no time should you ever hold more than six scoring cards at any given time! In order words, when you score, immediately discard those extra scoring cards off to one side so that there are always only six in front of you! Note that at no time during Bloody Brilliant should anyone ever have more than six total cards including those being held in hand! This includes communal stockpile as well!

End game is triggered when either all players but one have run out of cards OR when the final communal card is taken. The latter happens more often which is why typically there's an agreed upon limit such as 8 rounds etc.) At this stage players must expose all their scoring cards with player with lowest score winning outright OR alternatively sudden death/playoff where each player lays out a certain amount of scoring cards e.g 7 with person who runs out first losing etc.)
